You must have probably seen everyone else on social media, but you, wearing a designer item. You are probably drooling over that Louis Vuitton bag or Christian Louboutin shoe, wishing that you owned one or two…or three. You must surely think luxury is only for those who have thousands of dollars to spend. BUT I am here to tell you that you can actually shop luxury on a budget. To know me is to know that I shop the best deals. I tend to get tons of questions about where I got my looks from or how I can afford them. Every now and then, I get a “I need to come shop in your closet” comment. Well, how about I show you how to get my closet? Here are FOUR tips that I use to get ALL my luxury items on a budget:
Look Out for Huge Sales
Every now and then, you have probably heard of semi annual or end-of-season sales, but never really checked to see what they are all about. Well, I am here to tell you that you have been missing out, but not any more. You will find most semi annual sales at the end of the year – immediately after Christmas to be specific. Also, sometime during the midyear (around June-July), most stores have huge sales – for example, Nordstrom. Typically, you will find most sales usually at the end of each season. You can always use google to find out the best times to shop during the year.
Network with Store Sales Agents
I know! You are probably wondering how this is possible, right? Well let me tell you a secret. First of all, all these stores like Saks 5th Avenue, which seem intimidating to the average pocket, are actually very accommodating to people of all backgrounds. I have purchased ALL of my Louboutin shoes from Saks 5th Avenue and I have NEVER paid a full price for them. I purchased them during their huge sale events, and most importantly because I got the direct contact number of one of their store agents. These agents are always willing to help because the more sales generate more commissions. So, they will text me whenever they have sales and even let me know when something comes up, which I may like. They basically keep me locked in with every deal that I can get. So, next time you get into a store, network with an agent and your life will never be the same again.
Sounds cliche, but you can never go wrong with a good thrift store. Thrifting has recently grown on me and I must say that I am hooked. For life. You won’t only find great deals in thrift stores, but you will find vintage treasures. In my opinion, this will be my first recommendation especially if you have a very tight budget. Though it may take a lot of time and make you look like a serial shopper, thrifting definitely has its silver lining when you find all the good stuff.
Shop from Luxury Consignment and Member-only Shopping Sites
Luxury consignment to me is synonymous to online thrifting. There are a lot of online luxury consignment sites, which will bring the real deal to your doorstep. A few popular stores are The Real Real, ThredUp and Rebag. Also, free member-only shopping sites come in very handy with their flash-sales and limited-time sale events. My favorite member-only stores are Rue La La and Hautelook. Every now and then, I always get a luxury find from these stores, which I can never get anywhere else.
I hope these ideas will help you on your next shopping plans while giving you hope that you deserve luxury even on a budget.
