INTENTIONAL! That is my word for 2020. In current social media times, it is very easy to lose the sense of reality and awareness. I have been there – many times – and probably you too. This year, I made a conscious decision to live intentionally; to be aware of every single thing I do and every way I feel. So, I wanted to share how to go about it.
Have A Vision and Write it Down
A vision is very important and necessary towards providing a sense of purpose and direction for your life. A vision keeps you focused and inspires action. Writing down your visions don’t only “certify” your vision, but it keeps you accountable and is also a great way to release all your aspirations to the Universe. When having a vision, it is important that it reflects who you are and gives you a sense of purpose and fulfilment.
Find A Mentor
There is a saying that two are better than one. There is nothing better than finding someone who can inspire and guide you towards fulfilling your dreams. I am currently at a very vital point in my life and I cannot tell you how much mentors have empowered and helped me through this phase. Having a mentor is also synonymous to having someone to keep you accountable and to pull you up when you fall. If you want to intentionally achieve your dreams and goals for 2020, a mentor should be top of your list.
Celebrate Small Victories
The best way to easily get discouraged in your pursuit to fulfill your dreams is to despise small achievements. Notwithstanding, one of the most important ways to keep yourself grounded in achieving your goals is to celebrate small victories. Yes, they are small, but they have a tremendous impact on your motivation to achieve your goals. Small victories are signs that you are doing something right and this will give you the motivation needed to keep going further to achieve your dreams.
The only reason to look back, is to see how far you have come. Life can be so hectic and we can all easily lose focus. So, having control of your mind and redirecting your thoughts is very important – here is where meditation comes in. Habitual meditation doesn’t only enhance self-awareness, but it also has health benefits such as reducing stress, controlling anxiety and promoting emotional health.
Journaling is another way to stay present and keep track of your progress and growth. Journaling has several benefits including improving self confidence and giving you a sense of identity. If you haven’t done so yet, then make it a habit to journal in 2020 and see how that changes your life.
I hope this helps you as much as it will to me. What is your word for 2020?
